Haley Orrender - When I recieved this scholarship, my father had recently lost his job, and money was tight. The Jennifer Harber scholarship was an answer to my prayers. Now, four years later, I am a college graduate with a bachelor of arts in elementary education. I am looking for a job as a teacher and can't wait to get into the classroom and give back! Without this scholarship, I may not have been able to achieve this dream. It was a blessing to me and my family, and I always keep the Harber family in my thoughts and prayers.

Ashley Monfont - The scholarship was based more than on grades which, even though I had good grades, were not perfect. I was able to go to school for the first year without getting a job. In that time I helped at a riding facility for the disabled community. I also was able to join the equestrian team and meet Dr. Charles Anderson, my mentor. He led me to getting my masters degree and then on to my PhD which I am currently working on. I changed my career path from being a vet to become a teacher. 9 years of college (without a break) later I am almost done. In this time I have done 6 research studies which most deal with glucose and insulin. I won the Kentucky Academy of Science first place award for my research. This research will be continued to hopefully open the door for diabetes and metabolic disorders for both horses and humans. None of this could have been done without scholarship support.
